Subject: DEAD SHELTER DOG

Hi all
Sorry to land this on you, but could not think who else to contact.
This dog was brought into the shelter last week by a couple of Turkish men.  The first time I personally saw him was Sunday 5th August.
Pete said the dog was taken into the clinic by the vets on Tuesday 7th August, but when he and Vanessa asked if the dog was going to have his op, he was told ‘No’.
I took him for a walk myself on Thursday 9th August and he was fine.  He was at the shelter Friday and Saturday morning ( Vanessa says she thinks the vets had him into the op room again).  On Sunday morning his cage was empty.  I just assumed he had been rehomed.
Tuesday 14th August (today):  The dog that Pete was walking, pulled him left outside the back gate and so Pete decided to follow him.  Then Pete smelt a horrid smell and in the bushes (approximately opposite where the kitchen is), he discovered the body of the above dog.  Obviously dead and crawling with maggots.
Pete immediately went and got Toygun and took him, plus Özgür the dog catcher and Casim, to the body.  No one had removed it by the time Pete & Vanessa left the shelter.
Rest in peace poor lad.
So, has anyone any idea what the next step is?  We cannot just let it go – it is too horrendous.  I would really like the following questions answered:
Did he have an anaesthetic on Saturday?  How did he get out of his cage?  How did he die?  We need answers!!!!!
Val xx
